Pfizer
When Pfizer needed prescription information and instructional materials translated and typeset in seven languages, they turned to TransPerfect. The project was completed flawlessly, helping the company get information about ten drugs—including Zoloft™, Lipitor™, and Viagra™—to a global audience. We continue to develop annual updates for Pfizer that are clear, accurate, and effective.

GlaxoSmithKline

Through its 1 on 1 health initiative, GSK collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create interactive learning tools—video games, animations, websites-to help patients better understand their conditions. TransPerfect was selected as the exclusive vendor for localizing all materials into 6th-to-8th-grade reading level. Working to deliver the content on a rolling basis to meet tight deadlines, our staff so impressed GSK with their commitment to quality and attention to detail that the company eliminated its own internal review, further streamlining and compressing the overall process.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
As the authority on health-, safety-, and disaster-related communications in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is responsible for relaying updates to the multilingual population of the United States as well as to a global audience. Demanding immediate response capabilities, short turnaround time, and impeccable quality, the CDC has partnered with TransPerfect Translations on a number of projects. Even before Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in August 2005, we helped the CDC communicate with the Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and Hmong speakers in the areas in the projected path. Following that storm, and during Hurricane Wilma two months later, we worked with the CDC around the clock to produce updates for its websites and on-site initiatives.

Covance
As one of the leading providers to drug development companies, Covance needed to create a multilingual interactive voice response system. We worked with its staff to design one that combines Covance’s IVR technology with the unique talents of our native-speaking specialized linguists. This ongoing project involves the translation and voice-over recording of hundreds of voice prompts in numerous languages for a wide range of Covance’s clients.

Daiichi Pharmaceuticals

Daiichi Pharmaceuticals needed a study protocol of over 20,000 words translated from English into Spanish. The protocol was to be used in countries including Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. TransPerfect’s Linguist Certification (TLC) Program was designed to test both language proficiency and familiarity with industry-specific terminology. TransPerfect was able to provide native-speaking translators, editors, and proofreaders who not only specialized in pharmaceutical terminology, but who were also well versed in the linguistic differences between the Spanish spoken in each target country.

Quintiles Transnational

As part of its pharmacovigilance effort, Quintiles orchestrates the collection of data regarding adverse symptoms. The company is responsible for reporting and monitoring the use of the post-marketing safety data for its medicines. Many of the responses were in multiple languages and were sometimes handwritten in medical shorthand. We provided Quintiles with accurate English translations for central review. Working closely with the Quintiles project manager, TransPerfect developed a system so that reports could be submitted through an online portal that catalogs the files and offers a full summary for each, including submission date, country of origin, site and patient number, and anticipated delivery date of the translation.

Sutter Health
A network of more than 100 healthcare providers serving the increasingly diverse communities in Northern California, Sutter Health turns to TransPerfect to centralize all of its translation initiatives. To eliminate redundant translation costs, we developed a library, specifically for Sutter’s use that contains a searchable database of previously translated materials. Providing translation and desktop publishing services for patient forms and information, as well as for marketing collateral and legal materials, TransPerfect has completed many projects for Sutter in Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
