Manufacturing > Experience
Honda
Like any multinational company, Honda has an employee demographic that comprises numerous cultures and languages. When the staff at Honda Manufacturing Plant of Alabama was given short notice that they would be hosting a company-wide presentation, they contacted TransPerfect to locate simultaneous interpreters for the three target languages to be represented: Thai, Japanese, and Spanish. With only two days to coordinate the project, we were able to provide, for each language, two linguists with the requisite experience in the automotive industry. We were even able to organize the equipment needed for the 50 non-English-speaking attendees, giving Honda’s staff less to worry about and more time to focus on being good hosts.
Ball Corporation
Having expanded into Puerto Rico, South America, Southern California, and parts of Florida, Ball Corporation has a large number of Spanish-speaking staff members. Recognizing that all employee materials would need to be translated—particularly environmental health and safety documents—the manufacturing company chose to partner with TransPerfect to handle the large-volume project. Incorporating translation memory (TM) tools and glossaries produced from Ball’s existing documents, we were able to build a bank of terminology that could be leveraged in future translation efforts—guaranteeing a consistent message and a cost-effective process. To ensure accuracy of technical terminology, we employed linguists with extensive experience in the manufacturing industry and its unique vocabulary. Our solutions have raised the level of understanding of health and safety issues among Ball employees, creating a more efficient and productive environment in the company’s plants worldwide.
Rohm and Haas
In an effort to better communicate with its staff in 27 countries, Rohm and Haas contacted TransPerfect to translate its monthly newsletter into several languages. We set up a dedicated team of project managers, translators, editors, proofreaders, and typesetters to produce each issue. Together, these production specialists create and deliver seamless multi-language versions on short turnaround.
General Electric
In 1994, General Electric expanded its operations into Central Asia. Since then, the company has continued to produce innovative services and products as well as increase its visibility. For a multinational corporation such as GE to thrive, contacts with various foreign government representatives are a necessity. When General Electric’s executives met with the Kazakh ambassador to the United States, TransPerfect was called on to provide comprehensive interpretation services.
