TransPerfect’s Linguistic Certification Program (TLC) is the gold standard for assessing language fluency. Unlike other certifications, TLC verifies not only linguistic ability, but also familiarity with industry-specific terminology.
In the first stage of the certification process, our linguistic resources coordinators verify that the candidate:
- Is a native speaker of the target language
- Has a college degree in translation or interpretation and five years of experience; or has a college degree and seven years of professional experience in translation or interpretation
- Has documented translation experience in the area of specialization
- Has provided three references, at least one of which must be from an end client
- Must maintain residency (equal to or greater than three months) in their native country within the past five years
In addition to a rigorous screening process prior to commencing work, our staff continuously assesses the quality of translations and other work product in order to maintain the highest standards of quality in our deliverables. If any linguist’s work falls below an internal standard, we no longer use them from our projects. This system is designed so that you can be confident that your language service needs are being handled by only the most skilled professionals in the industry.
