Q: What is GlobalLink™ Content Director?
A: GlobalLink Content Director is a globalization management system (GMS) that gives you a powerful workflow solution to manage multi-lingual content.
Content Director has three primary functions. The first function is to monitor your various content repositories such as file systems, databases, and content management systems (CMS). Whenever a piece of content is either added, changed, deleted or moved, Content Director automatically notifies the appropriate business user on your side who manages content. That person will then have the option to select text, provide project information and submit for localization.
The second element of the Content Director solution is the ability to automatically extract text from repositories like databases and CMS applications, applications that would normally require some level of IT commitment on your side. Content Director can extract this content, maintain all file structure information, and protect all of the relevant, non-translatable data. This ensures that content can be easily and automatically be re-integrated into the appropriate repository without any need for IT support.
Finally, Content Director gives you a workflow solution to manage all of your translation projects from a single location. This eliminates the need to submit files and requests via email and greatly improves overall efficiencies in the localization workflow process.
Q: What databases are supported by Content Director?
A: Content Director is designed to support all major SQL databases available in the market, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and DB2.
Q: Does Content Director work with Content Management Systems?
A: We have proven adaptors that work with EMC’s Documentum, Interwoven TeamSite, Percussion Rhythmyx, Oracle Universal Content Management (formerly Stellent) and FatWire. We are currently working on several other CMS integrations and have the ability to develop custom adaptors for any system, be it a third-party or proprietary environment.
Q: We have built our own CMS. Can we still use Content Director?
A: Yes. Odds are that we can access content in a “bespoke” or custom CMS through our tight database integration. If not, we have a dedicated internal team of software developers with the ability to develop a custom solution to access content in specialized repositories.
Q: Does Content Director offer Translation Memory?
A: Yes. GlobalLink TM Server can be integrated into Content Director to give you automated content analysis and cost estimates.
Q: Who are some clients that a running Content Director?
A: Content Director is a mature application, currently on version 4.0. Examples of clients that are using Content Director are Hyatt, Hilton, Starwood, adidas, Avis, Dollar, Thrifty, Philip Morris and People Click, to name a few.
Q: How long does it take to implement Content Director?
A: Depending on the level of customization, and based on the number of specialized adaptors required, Content Director can often be installed and running within 3-5 business days. Because of Content Director’s intuitive User Interface, training is very minimal, with most users achieving application proficiency after 1-2 days of instruction.
Q: Are there any limitations on usage?
A: No. There is no limit on the number of users or number of languages that Content Director can support.
